About sunshine forest school
6Hi, I'm Layla Sunshine Marshall, I am owner and founder of this fabulous forest school, established 2017.
Science and nature has always featured highly in my life, I was brought up in the Derbyshire hills, playing outdoors, building dens, camping out, there would be days when I’d be out from dawn till dusk having fun with nature, so it only seemed right that I would end up doing something related to science or nature.
I am a qualified secondary school science teacher with 20 years experience. I am also a mother of 2 with 16 years experience of parenting. I have just completed my Ma in Outdoor and Experiential learning majoring in Bush craft and have been running my own forest school for the last 8 years. I set up my forest school to make sure my children, their generation and future generations don’t lose the privilege that I grew up with.
I currently have 5 members of staff working for me, Liz, Helen and Caroline are fully qualified level 3 practitioners who often run sessions for us. Caroline is trained in creative therapy and runs her own wellbeing sessions as well as bringing the calmness to our woodland sessions. Claire is a TA in a local school and is a very popular staff member and Archie is working part time with us whilst studying at college. Claire and Archie are currently at the beginning of their Level 3 Forest School Adventure.
Forest School isn't just about getting back to nature, its about slowing life right back down again and becoming part of the circle.
