About sunshine forest school
At Sunshine Forest School, we create meaningful outdoor learning experiences for children, young people, and educators. Rooted in true Forest School principles, our sessions are child-led, hands-on, and designed to support confidence, wellbeing, and a lifelong connection with nature.
We offer a wide range of provision to suit different ages, needs, and settings:
Forest School for Schools
We work in partnership with schools to bring high-quality Forest School provision to their pupils. Sessions can take place at our woodland site or on school grounds, and are tailored to support:
Curriculum enrichment
Personal development
Wellbeing and emotional regulation
Teamwork and social skills
We are experienced in supporting a wide range of learners, including those who may find traditional classroom environments challenging.
Stay & Play (Early Years)
Our Stay & Play sessions provide a relaxed, welcoming space for younger children and their caregivers to explore the outdoors together.
These sessions focus on:
Play-based learning
Sensory exploration
Building confidence in nature
Supporting early development in a calm, nurturing environment
Home Education Sessions
We offer regular Forest School sessions for home-educated children, providing opportunities to:
Learn through hands-on, real-life experiences
Develop practical and bushcraft skills
Build friendships and social confidence
Engage with nature in a meaningful way
Alternative Provision
We are now regsitered with DCC as a local provider to provide bespoke alternative provision for children and young people who need a different approach to learning.
Our sessions support:
Emotional wellbeing and self-regulation
Confidence and resilience
Engagement with learning
Positive relationships with adults and peers
We work closely with schools, families, and other professionals to create supportive, individualised programmes.
Training and Professional Development
We are passionate about sharing the Forest School ethos with others and supporting adults to take learning outdoors.
We offer:
Level 3 Forest School Leader Training
A comprehensive, supportive training programme for those looking to become qualified Forest School practitioners.
INSET Day Training
Practical, engaging training for school staff to develop confidence in delivering outdoor learning.
CPD Sessions
Flexible professional development opportunities focused on:
Taking learning outside
Managing risk in outdoor environments
Supporting wellbeing through nature
Embedding Forest School principles into practice
